Description

Breadstick Snakes are a delightful and playful addition to any festive gathering, especially around Halloween. These easy-to-make snacks are not only visually appealing but also incredibly tasty, making them an instant hit with both kids and adults. Shaped like serpents, they offer a fun way to engage children in the kitchen while providing a savory treat that pairs well with various dips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 13.8 ounce tube refrigerated pizza dough
  • 3 black olives (for eyes)
  • Piece of a red bell pepper (for tongues)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)
  • 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Cut the black olives into small pieces for eyes and slice the red bell pepper into forked tongues.
  3. Unroll the pizza dough and cut it into 12 strips. Roll each strip into a 12-inch rope, tapering one end for the tail and flattening the other for the head.
  4. Wrap each rope around a greased chopstick or straw, brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with poppy and sesame seeds.
  5. Place olive pieces on each snake's head for eyes.
  6. Bake on parchment-lined baking sheets for 11–15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Use a toothpick to insert red pepper tongues while warm.
