  • 6 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls
  • 1 demi baguette
  • ½ cup basil pesto
  • gel food coloring (black)
  • 12 ounces cherry tomatoes
  • olive oil
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • red pepper flakes
  • fresh basil
  • balsamic vinegar glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake mozzarella in a silicone skull mold for 6-7 minutes until melted.
  3. Press mozzarella into molds, absorb excess moisture, and cool completely.
  4. Increase oven temperature to 475°F (245°C). Halve cherry tomatoes, season with olive oil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes; roast for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Slice baguette and toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes until golden.
  6. Mix basil pesto with black food coloring until desired shade is achieved.
  7. Assemble bruschetta by spreading black pesto on toasted bread, topping with roasted tomatoes and mozzarella skulls; return to oven for another 8-10 minutes.
  8. Garnish with balsamic glaze and fresh basil before serving.
