- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup liquid glucose (or light corn syrup)
- Few drops black gel food coloring
- 6 Granny Smith apples (or 12 small apples)
Instructions
- Prepare a greased baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- Insert bamboo skewers into each apple and set aside.
- In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, water, liquid glucose, and black gel food coloring over medium heat.
- Stir until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and wash down the sides of the pot with a wet brush.
- Cook until the mixture reaches hard crack stage (150ºC/310ºF).
- Dip each apple into the caramel mixture, ensuring full coverage.
- Place dipped apples on the prepared baking sheet and allow them to cool completely before serving.
